Bay Area Darts Singles League

Bay Area Darts is hosting a Singles League starting in Spring 2011

6-8 players per division.

Divisions based on skill level, and geography

If there are enough players for 2 brackets in one division and county, the players will be split as geographically close to each other as possible to minimize travel, but it is kind of dependent on the sponsors we get.

14-15 week season with a playoff.

Cash prizes! Anticipated cost for the season is $50/player.

The types and metrics of these Brackets will be:

Division	PPR/3-dart avg	Format
A	60+ (25 or better darts per game)	Best of 20
B	45+ (33 or better darts per game)	Best of 16
C	Under 45 (more than 33 darts per game)	Best of 12

Play 1 match a week

Sponsor fee will be $100/season for every 2 boards. 2 boards are needed per division.

Tuesday nites in San Mateo County. Other counties can choose their own nites of play

ADO Regional Qualifier for Cricket National Championship

Qualifier for the ADO Cricket National Championship.

The ADO qualifier is the first step toward this year’s ADO Cricket National Championship. The Region 1-3 Finals will be held on Friday, 5 Nov in conjunction with the $5000 Tahoe Biltmore Tournament. The National Finals will be held January 28, 2011 in Las Vegas in conjunction with the $20,000 Las Vegas Open

This qualifier will be OPEN to all players; you just need to be a member of the ADO by the time you play in the Regional.

ADO Regional Qualifier for US Team and Top-Gun All-Star team

Qualifier for the ADO US Team and PDO Top-Gun All-Star team.

That's Right!! 2 tournaments in one!

Once again, the PDO has been invited to field an All-Star team to compete in the Bay Area Top-Gun Tournament hosted by the SCVDA. The tournament will be held in Sept or Oct at Beefy's Cabin in Sunnyvale; the dates are still being worked out.

The top 8 finishers will be on the PDO All-Star Team. The next 4 finishers will be the alternates.

The ADO qualifier is the first step toward this year’s ADO US Team. The Region 1-3 Finals will be held on Saturday, 31 July at Brick Oven Pizza in Sacramento. The National Finals will be held on Oct 8th in Denver, Colorado in conjunction with the $15,000 Colorado Open (8-10 October)

2 The Point was down 3-6 to the Ugly Ducklings in the match and rallied to win the next 4 to take the B Division League Championship. A similar story was going on in the A Division: Seasonal Brew was down 2-6 to the 4Ps, a quick exchange of singles games put it at 3-7, then Seasonal Brew pulled off the same comeback as 2 The Point, winning the next 5 games to take the title.

Everyone enjoy the pizza the league provided for the Championships.

2011 PDO Board of Directors Nominations

This is your league and the Board needs you to help keep the league running. Every office/position is open. If you would like to 'run' for one of the positions, or know someone who does, please submit a nomination.

Nominations are due at the 7 Sep 2010 Board Meeting. If you would like to nominate someone or yourself, please send an email to board@pdo.bayareadarts.net

I will spare you with the full formal descriptions of each office, you can check those out in the ByLaws online, but here is a quick view of what each position entails.

President: Enforces the bylaws of the Association. He/she shall conduct all meetings in the interest and well being of the Association. In the event of a tied vote, he/she shall cast the deciding vote. Basically acts as the 'face' of the PDO.

Vice President: Oversees the running of the organization and act as a liaison between the Board of Directors and the general membership.

Treasurer: Keep a proper statement of Income and Expenditures of the Association The Treasurer should have experience in accounting or operating a business.

Recording Secretary: Keeps a record of all the proceedings of every regular and special Board of Directors Meetings. He/she shall preserve all books, papers, and records pertaining to the Association.

Membership Secretary: Collects any player dues and/or sponsor fees levied by the Association; maintain accurate player and Sponsor lists at all times. The Membership Secretary is also responsible for coordinating, distributing, and collecting ballots.

Competition Secretary: Responsible for scheduling all dart matches of the Association, arrange playoffs arrange the Rudy Shoot. He/she shall keep accurate records of the weekly results, team standings, as well as individual players results with respect to highlites, high scores, and player ratings. He/she shall inspect all boards, lighting, out charts, and oche lines in establishments, as necessary.

Social Secretary: Arrange social functions, trophy presentations, picnics, or any such event in the interest of the Members.

Members-At_Large (4 positions): Additional member input for league decisions.

The New Tropicana World Series of Darts Festival will take place at the Tropicana Hotel & Casino from June 26 through June 30, 2010 and will include 5 major events offering a total of £131,800 in prize money.

Sodini's is hosting a weekly handicapped blind draw singles tournament every Monday at 7pm. Format is random draw of one of the following games: 301, 501, or Cricket. Game is chosen each week after the player draw is made.

Sodini's is now adding $25 to the prize purse

Fall 2010 Signups Now Open!!!

Signups are now open for the Fall 2010 Season. Yes, you read that right. We are getting an eariler start on signups for the next season.

The signup deadline will be the Spring Awards Picnic sometime in June/July

The Board will be sending out pre-printed signup forms to help speed up the signup process shortly, so look out for those.

Fall 2010 season will start sometime in August, but to ensure that the entire season is played in 2010, we need to know the number of teams sooner rather than later to schedule the start of the season.

So, many might have noticed the Player of the Week link on the side of the page... This was something I added during the middle of last season just as an experiment. The Board is still pondering what to do with this, but we wanted to give it some more spotlight.

ADO Regional Qualifier for the Winmau World Masters

Congratulations to Brian Jackson, the winner of the ADO qualifier for the PDO. 2nd place: Robert Mediak. 3rd Place: Bill Noftz. 4th Place: Randy Crosby.

Brian now advances to the Region 1-3 Regional in Sacramento, Sat 20 March, with a chance to earn a trip to the Winmau World Masters Nationals in Houston, TX on June 11th for a chance to earn a spot on the National Team and Travel to England to compete in the Worlds.

Bill Noftz and Brian Jackson each hit a 8T0 as well :)

Once again Darts San Francisco is holding open qualifiers for the upcoming ADO Regional in Sacramento. ANY player can play in these.

Qualifer Information

Sunday March 14th. Location: Eagle's Drift Inn
12pm signups. 1pm start.
$10 entry fee
Round Robin format (you get to play a lot of games)
Winner(s) advances to the Region 1-3 Regional in Sacramento.
Seperate events for Men and Women, if enough of each show up. The Regional has separate events for Men and Women.

The Camelia Classic dart tournament will be held in Sacramento, CA on Feb 12-14. This is a $10,000+ dart tournament with 3 blind draws.

This mean's that every member of the PDO is also now a member of these 2 other organizations.

Captain's Meeting and New Player Clinic

Captain's Meeting will be at Ryan's Sports Bar inside the Hillsdale Inn in San Mateo Wednesday 13 Jan @ 7:30pm. All teams MUST be present and team fees are due if not already paid.

Following the Captain's Meeting, will be the New Player Clinic. All players new to the PDO and new to organized darts are encouraged to attend.

Had a decent turnout for the first ever PDO in-season tournament.
18 players showed up to compete in the 501 Singles Tournament (best of 3, double elimination) held at OPL, will spillover to AL474. Thank you to both venues to accomodating the darters.

PDO Board Elections and Ballots

Ballots for the 2010 PDO Board have gone out to captains, well most of them... The remaing captains will receive their ballot packets this Wednesday.

Each member of the PDO gets to fill out a ballot. Please fill out your ballot and return it to your team captain who will then mail it before the end of Oct.

Ballots will be counted at the Nov Board meeting: Tues 3 Nov, 7pm, American Bull in Burlingame. The new board members should expect to attend the Dec board meeting to learn about the offices and then assume their new positions starting in Jan 2010.

NOTE: Privateers and Dartesians, your team packets will be at the American Legion in RWC. OPL and Bad Boyz, your team packets are being dropped off at the American Bull. Molly's Grave Diggers, your team packets will be delivered to the Blind Squirrels.
